People are solving the electricity problem in their own ways. The rich and financially able install solar systems in their homes. Solar systems cost at least one hundred thousand dollar, which is not even affordable for ordinary families. The middle class buys inverters and power stations. Here, too, a simple light and a set of inverters for watching TV cost 10 million baht, so not everyone can afford them. The majority of the grassroots people live in darkness.
The military council does not seem to be making any effort to solve this problem at the national level. The electricity commission they formed proposed to build hydroelectric projects in the upper reaches of the Myitsone River in Kachin State. The areas they proposed are currently under KIA control. What kind of projects can the military council implement? The military council, as usual, is talking nonsense.
