The Military Council has announced that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s house yard No. 54 in Yangon’s Inkhla Lake will be auctioned at a floor price of about US$90 million. That house has been in dispute with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s brother for a long time. During the previous government, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was defeated and the house was handed over, but during the current military council, the case was reopened and it was decided to put it up for auction. Farm No. 54 has been designated as a cultural heritage by NUG, and since it is a public place, it has been declared that there is no sole ownership. According to the announcement, the people of Myanmar have accepted it. Therefore, this sale is illegal and the purchase is not valid. But it remains to be seen whether there will be any bidders, and we cannot predict what will happen next. This decision of the military council is a political revenge against Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. In 2012, that house was visited by US President Obamai. As the home where Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited and met, it is a truly historical place for Burmese people.
