The military council has announced that it will no longer give the fuel ration that is being distributed to industrial zones. Instead, industrial zones will allow entrepreneurs to import fuel themselves. The way that the military council says is not convenient for the businessmen of the industrial zone. Since they are not oil importers, they may have difficulties in importing oil themselves. In the situation where the Military Council cannot provide enough electricity, the industrial zones are operating using generators. Now it is becoming difficult to even get oil for the generator. The military council did this in order to reduce the dollars they had to issue for fuel.
As a result of this incident, fuel shortages have reoccurred in Yangon’s fuel shops starting this evening. Some of the big shops were closed because they ran out of oil in the afternoon. In the evening, we saw the long lines of cars lined up at gas stations again.
