The plan for NUG Foreign Minister Daw Zin Ma Aung to give a speech at the Global Town Hall 2022 event in Indonesia was canceled just before the event began. It is known that this happened because a UN official objected. Fearing that the United Nations will be perceived as having chosen a side during the war in Myanmar, the Global Town Hall 2022 event requested the exclusion of those who have the right to speak about Myanmar’s democracy. The organizers of the event should have withdrawn the invitation to the UN official who put pressure on them instead of canceling the official speakers of Myanmar who had already been invited. While the people of Burma are being arrested, tortured and killed, the United Nations maintains a neutral policy for fear of being perceived as biased. The position of the United Nations is already quite disappointing. Burmese democracy activists are also banned. It’s a pretty useless organization except for making announcements.
