On the Karen State side, the KNU has been continuously attacking and occupying three military council camps these days. A lieutenant battalion commander from the army was also killed in the battle to seize the camp near the border gate of Payarthonesu that happened yesterday. Previously, the fighting had only taken place in Kok Krait Township, near the Myawadi border gate, but now it has spread towards another Thai-Myanmar border gate, the Payar Thyu Su Gate. More than three months after the failed Ukrit camp battle, the KNU resumed the camp battle. In the battles these days, the military side is no longer able to provide air support. The commander of the newly transferred 44 Army to Karen State is under investigation in Nay Pyi Taw because his division has lost both manpower and weapons. In December of last year, military council launched their offensive battle in Lay Kay Kaw but now they just operate defensive battle.
