Daw Kyi Pyar, Permanent Secretary of the Office of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government (NUG), and her husband have been charged with corruption. They have been accused of abuse of power, oppression and bribery of office workers. Therefore, the NUG announced that they will be temporarily suspended from their posts and investigated.
Before this, a leader of the MDY PDF unit was investigated for a similar case. Now, he is the permanent secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, so the case is even bigger. The Prime Minister’s Office is the top office in the NUG administration. There have been reports that NUG has been involved in bribery among its ground units before. Now that it has reached the top office, it means that corruption has increased in the NUG. If this incident is not handled properly, the trust and image of NUG will be greatly reduced.
