Like other regions across the country, the people of Sagaing and Magway Regions are also suffering from the effects of the military junta’s military campaign.
In Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region, the military junta has been using force to raid villages, killing, looting, and burning, and has burned down 17 villages in just over a month. Since early October, when the military junta was preparing to hold a sham election, the military junta has been raiding villages along the Sagaing-Shubo road in Wetlet with hundreds of troops in at least four groups, raiding, looting, killing, and burning. The military junta has been arresting and killing anyone it finds while raiding villages, using them as human shields, and tens of thousands of people from more than 20 villages in Wetlet, including the villages that were burned, have fled the war.
Similarly, tens of thousands of locals are fleeing the Khin Oo-Kant Ba Lu-Ye Oo border area due to the military’s military incursion. Currently, pregnant women, children, and the elderly are suffering from illness and disease due to the ongoing displacement, and as the period of displacement continues, they need food and medical assistance.
