Fighting continues in Karen State after the military commission regained control of the Myawaddy-Kayak-Kareik Asian Highway. They have recaptured Kalakhe Mountain near Myawaddy. They are also preparing to attack the new Laykaykaw town and the Thai border posts they recently lost. Therefore, the Asian Highway remains closed. As long as the highway is not reopened, the prices of goods in the country will continue to rise.
