It is reported that the Aung Zeya army of the military commander in Dawna Mountain, Karen State, has launched an offensive in four columns. The main column was well blocked by the revolutionary forces on Dawna Mountain, but two more columns have come up from the forest road. In addition, the deserters who were gathering from Myawaddy town formed another column, which is said to have been attacked from three sides by the revolutionary forces, so they have been forced to retreat. The army columns have now reached Thingangyin Naung, which the revolutionary forces have controlled. The Asian Highway is also almost free of obstacles, so they will soon reach Myawaddy, their goal.
The Aung Zayya Army had been promising to advance to Myawaddy within three days since April 2024. But it was trapped at the foot of Daw Na Mountain for more than five hundred days. The KNU congratulated the Revolutionary Joint Forces for blocking the military group for more than five hundred days. However, it also lost the Asian highway, which is important for Thai-Burma trade.
