The military junta has retaken control of Banmaw after a counter-offensive launched by the KIA to retake some areas of the city. KIA forces have withdrawn from some of the artillery and airfields in Banmaw. If the military’s counter-offensive cannot be stopped, the plan to capture Banmaw may have to be abandoned.
In Myinchan, Mandalay Region, the military junta has also retreated from some areas controlled by the rebels after using nearly a thousand troops to advance. It is understood that the rebels had to withdraw after fighting for more than 10 days due to a lack of ammunition. Since Myinchan is located in the central part of the country, the problem of insufficient ammunition for local rebel groups still exists. Almost all the military news we hear is that the rebels have withdrawn.
