The military council bombed the area after the NUG announced that it would open a university in the liberated area. Five 500-pound bombs were dropped on the NUG’s Aung San Polytechnic University in western Myaing Township. The university was scheduled to hold an opening ceremony, so the bombardment was likely carried out on the assumption that NUG officials were present. No NUG personnel were reported to have been injured.
The military council has been bombing NUG-controlled areas, hospitals, and schools with little information. It is working to completely eliminate the NUG. There is fear in those areas whenever it hears an airplane.
