China has sent back to Muse, guarding more than 300 members of the military council who fled from Kan Tsingpai to China. Previously, China did not allow refugees or Burmese soldiers to enter its side. Now, it has welcomed and safely returned the defeated military council members. The military council is using about 300 of those troops to defend Muse.
In addition, China, which has closed border gates, has made noises about reopening some gates with restrictions. It is not known which gates will be reopened. Closing border trade gates is painful for both sides. If one side can hold on, the other side will have to make concessions.
