The BPLA, a Burmese revolutionary force fighting in northern Shan State, has announced its return to mainland Burma. The force, led by poet Maung Saung Kha, is thousands strong. It fought under the MNDAA in northern Shan State and gained a lot of military experience. Now that the MNDAA has stopped its offensive, it is returning to the mainland.
The strength and military experience of the BPLA will provide support to the revolutionary forces in Sagaing and other areas. It is timely that the current cessation of fighting in northern Shan State requires military operations in the mainland to prevent the military council.
