The death of Dr. Zaw Myint Maung is a very painful loss for the country. He is the vice chairman of the NLD party. Before that, he was imprisoned by the military group for many years. After more than 20 years of imprisonment since the 1988 uprising, he was released in 2012. Much of his life was spent in prison for the cause of democracy. After his release, he served as the chief minister of Mandalay during the civilian government led by the NLD party.
During his time, Mandalay changed incredibly. He tried to turn the city, which was previously full of evil and dirty, into a smart city in Southeast Asia. He was loved and respected by the residents. At that time, Mandalay was a very desirable city to live in. Now, during the military council, all these evils have disappeared, and the people of the city are living in fear. If Dr. Zaw Myint Maung continues to govern, Mandalay will be better than Yangon. Now, due to the arbitrary arrest and detention of the military council, the blood cancer he was suffering from did not receive adequate medical treatment.
