The military group is trying to recapture the city of Sintkou, which the revolutionary groups occupied. The military council troops tried to go up the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay harbor and land at Sintkou, but the resistance groups were able to fight them off. Since they failed to go ashore, the Military army are firing on the city every day from the back bank of the Irrawaddy River.
Fighting is raging in Matara Township, south of Sankoo City. More than 20 military council camps in the Matara region have been captured, and the revolutionary forces have reached about two miles away from the city. Some of the battles came to villages about 10 miles away from Mandalay.
Therefore, the military council has closed the Mandalay-Mattara road and is preparing to defend itself in Mandalay. Mandalay Mountain, a Buddhist area north of Mandalay, has been closed and stationed on the mountain. Security has been increased by covering bunkers and sandbags at the police station and general manager’s office in Mandalay. Put down bunkers before, Slowdowns have been made, but now three lanes are closed, leaving only one car behind. Additional deployments are being made in the city’s neighborhoods. The tests on the main roads are tougher than before. The residents are worried that the war will come to Mandalay.
