The KNU reported that the Khlara 275, which is the city guard in Myawati, was captured at around 4:30 this morning and a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized. To capture the base, KNU and allied groups have been attacking since April 9. After the Tsangkan Ninnaung strategic camp, they (KNU) arranged for them to surrender, but they couldn’t arrange it, so they had to attack. Although they were able to capture the battalion, the rebels from that battalion fled towards the Myanmar-Thai border friendship bridge. It looks like they will continue to flee into Thailand through that. The Thai side has not yet accepted, so about 200 rebels are trapped under the bridge. In the town of Myawati, the local people continue to flee from the Thai side. Banks and markets in the city are closed.
On the other hand, the Military Council column, which had advanced to reinforce the last garrison in Myawati, was attacked for the first time near Kyung Do, west of Kok Krait. It is known that the whole of the 55th Division and some other troops joined the column. The 55th Division is a traditional good division that was destroyed during the battles in Karenni State and lost the war in North Shan. Now it has come to Karen State again. The military council’s reinforcement column was still only about halfway down the road, so the garrison in Myawati had deserted the camp and fled. It is not yet clear whether it will turn back. Currently, the city of Myawati has completely fallen into the hands of the revolutionary groups.
