The U.S. side has released reports that the US foreign affairs adviser met with local ethnic armed groups such as the Karen KNU, the Kachin KIA, the Chin CNF, and the Karenni KNPP. As you may have noticed, the American side had meetings with organizations like NUG during the revolution, but this will be the first official meeting with EAO. And the EAOs they met were groups that were not under China’s influence. It is the EAOs in the south who really need help. I’m not sure what was discussed, but I’m pretty sure it was related to the Burma Act that Biden signed. We must continue to monitor the effects of this meeting. Meetings like before I just hope it doesn’t end up on paper.
