The KIA’s joint forces that are attacking Moe Meik town in northern Shan State have been withdrawn from Moe myet town. It is known that the KIA started attacking Moe Meik town on the 18th of this month, and after about two weeks, they were unable to capture the town and had to retreat. The military council used an excessive amount of air and heavy artillery to force the city to surrender, and the city was almost completely destroyed. Since there were no more offensives by the three brothers in the north of Shan, the military council was able to prioritize Moe Meik city and defend it. Although the KIA did not capture Moe Meik, they were able to capture the nearby city of Moe Meik. However, once the city of Moe Meik is captured, the communication route between North Shan and Kachin State will be fully opened, so the opportunity for the northern resistance groups to freely travel and send support to each other has been missed.
Similarly, it is known that the military council may regain control of the town of Hti Chai, which is located on the border between Sagaing and Kachin states. The rebel groups started to attack the city in early November and were able to control about two-thirds of the city. However, because of the military council’s support for Kachin State, the military council did not miss the strategic town of Htee Chai, and the military council fiercely resisted. After more than two months of fighting, the military council was able to regain control.
During the revolution, not every town was captured by the revolutionary forces. In the battles of Hti Chai and Moe Meit, the revolutionary forces fought with a lot of blood and sweat, but they did not achieve their objective. Therefore, it is very important for the revolutionary forces to carry out simultaneous offensives throughout the country if the military council is not able to resist fiercely.
