Northern Shan State TNLA recaptured Mantong town in Palau Autonomous Region. According to the 2008 constitution drafted by military leaders, Namsan and Mantong are included in the Palaung Autonomous Region. The TNLA has been in full control of Namsan since December 15th, and now the last remaining military base of the Military Council in Mantong has been captured by the TNLA with a heavy offensive. The town of Mantong is more than 30 miles north of Namsan, and the military camp that has been seized is the camp that helped in the fall of Namsan. This month during the battle, the MNDAA had a brief ceasefire with the military council, but the TNLA was attacking the military council fiercely, and within days, Namsan, Namkham and now Mantong are being taken over in succession.
In addition, TNLA captured another big beast from the military council. During the fighting in Namsan Township, Brigadier General Min Min Tun, commander of the 101st Infantry Division Headquarters of the Military Council based in Pakokku, was arrested while retreating from the front line. The fact that the Brigadier-General ran away without informing the front-line units under his command shows how badly the Military Council’s forces were already depleted. With this one, within 57 days since the start of the 1027 operation of the three twin alliances, 1 division commander from the Military Council side, 1 deputy commander 3 strategic commanders were killed, 1 division commander was captured alive, and three brigadier ranks were involved.
