They are fighting according to their brigades. Also, the KNU could not use as much ammunition as the northern groups. Therefore, progress in the south is slow.

Northern Shan State A battalion of the Military Council from Kumlong Township surrendered. The 143rd Army Battalion, which is about 40 strong including the deputy battalion commander, surrendered with full weapons. MNDAA paid 1,500,000 each of the military council troops and granted amnesty. This is the second time since the military council troops surrendered in the town of Mae Se in Karenni State during the spring revolution. As I said at the time, when the rebels were in a situation where they would die if they did not surrender, Surrender with absolutely no choice. This time, I think there will be more rebels who will surrender in the battles in North Shan. They have no way to run.

On the southern side of Karen State, the KNU joint forces are attacking the town of Kokreit as well as the town of Kyin Pyaygyi. But in those battles, a lieutenant colonel was killed on the side of the revolutionary groups. While North Shan is capturing one city after another, no significant success has been seen in Karen State. The situation of the EROs, the three northern twin groups, and the KNU group in the south are not the same. The key points are that the KNU has 7 brigades, but they are not under a single chain of command. They are fighting according to their brigades. Also, the KNU could not use as much ammunition as the northern groups. Therefore, progress in the south is slow.
