The coup regime’s forces killed seven and injured 20 on Sunday during an attack on protesters in Yangon’s Thingangyun township, a doctor from the Thingangyun Sanpya Hospital told Myanmar Now.
Protesters had already started to disperse after gathering at the AKK Shopping Centre on Lay Daung Kan road when police and soldiers opened fire.
Only four of those killed have been identified so far. The youngest is Min Khant Soe, 18. Hein Htet Dway, 24, Lynn Lynn Kyaw, 43, and 25-year-old Kyaw Lynn Khaing were also killed. The hospital and volunteers are still trying to identify the three others.
They were among at least 39 killed for opposing the military dictatorship on Sunday, marking the bloodiest day yet since a massive popular uprising began in early February.
Lynn Lynn Kyaw was shot in the chest and the bullet passed all the way through. His wife, Than Than Thwe, said she heard gunshots after her husband went out to protest with three other friends. Later, she found out he had been shot dead.
“I will never forgive them. I will be satisfied only when their families suffer the same grief,” she said.
