It is known that the military leader Min Aung Hlaing has started to offer to restart the Ayeyarwady Myitsone Dam project. He is putting the country in China’s hands to maintain his power. I don’t think it will be easy if he tries to implement the project. The Myitsone region is under the control of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA). Currently, the KIA controls most of Kachin State except for the state capital Myitkyina. The KIA will do everything it can to prevent the Myitsone project from happening. The military commission, which is facing wars all over the country, believes that it is too expensive to implement a major project in an area controlled by ethnic armed groups.
