The actions of the MNDAA and TLNA in the Spring Revolution have taught great lessons to the Burmese revolutionary forces abroad. When the two groups launched the 1027 Operation in Northern Shan, they vowed to root out the army and fight to the end. Therefore, the revolutionary forces abroad joined them in the fight. The lives of the Burmese youth in the An Nay region were sacrificed. The NUG also helped as much as it could with manpower and money. However, the MNDAA and TLNA signed a ceasefire with the military commission after their military objectives were achieved. Lashio, Moe Kot and Moe Ma The towns of Yek were returned to the military commission without firing a single shot. Despite the pressure from China, they ignored the friendship of the overseas revolutionary forces that fought together. The TLNA’s actions are very disappointing. Even when they knew that they had to withdraw from Moe Kot and Moe Meik, they did not allow the remaining revolutionary forces in the cities to fight back. Although they fought together, the Burmese revolutionary forces did not have a clear political or military agreement with these two groups, so they watched everything they did with their hands.
Because of these factors, there is currently a view that the overseas Burmese revolutionary forces must unite. They cannot rely on any ethnic armed groups, and the Burmese must fight for the liberation of the Burmese people themselves.
