Thousands of pilgrims visited the ancient cultural site of Bagan on the full moon day of Thadingyut. The huge number of visitors meant that the pagodas were packed, and hotels and monasteries were full. The parking lots of famous pagodas were overflowing. However, the bridge on the Meiktila-Kyaukpadaung road collapsed, forcing people to use bypass roads, blocking hundreds of tourist vehicles on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway. There are military checkpoints on the Kyaukpadaung road and some sections of the road, and tourists are being checked with their registration numbers using the PSMS system. Many people went to Bagan during the long Thadingyut holiday. The beaches are not accessible due to fighting in the Ayeyarwady region. Other tourist destinations in the country are also insecure, so people are flocking to Bagan.
