Yesterday was the day when the NUG announced the start of a revolutionary war against the military dictatorship that had usurped power. It has been more than four years since the announcement was made in 2021. During this period, the revolutionary forces have been able to conquer and control a large area, but they are currently facing major challenges and crises.
The military commission is conducting a counter-offensive against the revolutionary forces throughout the country with the help of China, and the fighting is intense. It is conducting a counter-offensive in all 12 regions except for Mon State and Yangon Region, where there has been no fighting in 14 states and divisions. Due to the military commission’s offensives, the revolutionary forces in the remaining regions except for Rakhine State have been retreating more or less. They are losing the territories they have captured. However, until now, the revolutionary forces, including the NUG, do not have a good plan to respond to the military commission’s counter-offensives. Each group is fighting on its own plan, and unless there is strategic cooperation to break through this crisis, it is doubtful that the revolution will succeed in the long term.
