The Military Commission is reportedly demanding the return of Sindhi city to another group in northern Shan State, the MNDAA, which is facing pressure from China. Due to pressure from China, the MNDAA had to hand over Lashio city to the Military Council last April. The Military Commission is also demanding the return of Sindhi city, which is a military and economic hub above Lashio. In that city, the MNDAA is still running administrative, economic and municipal activities at full speed. However, unconfirmed reports suggest that the Military Commission’s departmental staff will enter the city in September. It remains to be seen how much pressure the MNDAA will be able to withstand from China and the Military Commission.
