The military junta has blocked border trade routes for two main reasons. The two main border trade routes, China and Thailand, inevitably pass through areas controlled by the revolutionary forces. Therefore, the military junta wants to cut off the revenue that the revolutionary forces receive from these routes.
Another reason is that the closure of these routes has reduced the need for dollars for imports. The military junta has tightened its grip on dollars to prevent them from leaving the country. Given the current domestic market and economic situation, it is not possible to permanently close trade routes. However, it is not known for how long they will be closed.
