The military council has recaptured the town of Moe Bwe, on the border of Shan State and Karenni State. The town has been under heavy attack since last December, using heavy weapons and manpower. The town is only about 150 miles from Nay Pyi Taw, so the battle to retake Moe Bwe was fierce. The Karenni resistance forces, which have resisted the military council’s repeated attacks for more than 7 months, deserve respect. The state is small, but they have been able to resist this far because they have been able to organize local resistance forces.
