In earthquake-hit Mandalay, many people are renting real estate and apartments due to the collapse of houses, so the rental price has increased by 30 percent. There are many people who do not dare to live in high-rise buildings, people whose houses have been damaged, and people who used to pay 1.5 million kyats per month are now paying up to 20 million kyats. A house worth 20 million kyats has become 30 million kyats immediately. The rain is coming, so it is not possible to live in a tent. The price of the shacks on the side of the Kyaung Si Dam, where most of the laborers live, has increased from 70,000 kyats to 150,000 to 200,000 kyats, which is a hardship for the middle class and displaced people.
The aftershocks are still shaking, and houses and buildings are collapsing, and most of the houses that collapsed cannot be demolished and are still in need of assistance for rehabilitation.
