The TNLA announced that it had held two days of talks with the military council in Kunming, China, under the mediation of the Chinese government. However, the talks failed. The TNLA representatives refused to agree to the TNLA’s demands to withdraw from the areas occupied by the TNLA, such as Nawng Cho, Kyaukme, Hsipaw, Mogok and Moeik. The TNLA has demanded that the military council stop all attacks, including aerial bombardment, heavy weapons, drone strikes and offensive operations. However, the TNLA has continued to carry out its attacks.
The military council and the TNLA met in mid-February this year, under the mediation of China, but failed to reach an agreement. Now, they will meet again in August.
