The military council has ordered that the companies that originally built the office buildings and staff houses damaged by the earthquake in Nay Pyi Taw, where the military council is located, must be responsible for rebuilding them. The companies that originally built the buildings were crony companies that were close to the generals and the previous military government. At that time, these companies were given contracts to build Nay Pyi Taw, but they stole as much as they wanted and did not meet the quality standards, which led to many of these collapses. Now, under the current Min Aung Hlaing administration, these companies are not as strong as they used to be. All the previous crony bosses are now distant from Min Aung Hlaing. Even now, some companies are avoiding the military council without contacting it. I don’t think the plan to force the companies of the former cronies to take responsibility from the beginning will work.
