The NUG and the Northern Alliance have announced a ceasefire until the end of this month to help people in the earthquake-hit areas. The military council initially said it would continue fighting, but it has also announced a ceasefire to make things easier for the public as it is due to attend the BIMSTEC meeting in Bangkok in the coming days. The military council says it will cease fighting on paper, and despite the earthquake, it continues to bomb Shan, Kachin and other areas. More than fifty people have died in the military council’s bombing during the disaster. As you can see, despite the earthquake, fighting is still ongoing.
