A week after the military service law was issued, young people aged 18 to 35 have been banned from leaving Yangon and Mandalay international airports. Previously, those who were allowed to leave with tourist passports were banned, but now those who were allowed to leave with employment passports are also banned.
Starting tomorrow, the Labor Department under the Military Council will no longer issue workers who are going to work abroad through agencies. Without this card, they will no longer be allowed to leave through airports. Therefore, the Military Council has effectively banned all young people who are within the military service age from leaving abroad. All young people will have to stay inside the country and wait for the military to call them.
