The AA offensive has reached Ayeyarwady Division from Rakhine State. After capturing the town of Gwa in the southern tip of Rakhine State, the AA continued its attack on the village of Magyizin on the border of Rakhine and Ayeyarwady earlier this month. Now, the rebels who were stationed in large numbers in Baw Mi village, south of Baw Mi village, were driven out yesterday. Although the Baw Mi village rebels had prepared a defense with about 500 armored vehicles, the AA’s surprise attack left about 100 dead, 80 wounded, and more than 200 of their forces running away. The rebel forces were in disarray and unable to carry their armored vehicles back, so they burned and destroyed them and retreated to Shwe Thaung Yan in the south. The fact that the AA, despite having about 500 troops, armored vehicles, and air support, could not withstand the AA attack for even a day clearly shows that the military council forces in Ayeyarwady Region have been defeated. It is believed that the AA will continue to attack the south.
