The KIA has captured three military council battalions in Mansi Township, Kachin State, and has taken full control of the city. Mansi and Bhamo were attacked simultaneously on December 4, and Mansi was captured more than a month later. Fighting is still ongoing on both sides in Bhamo. The KIA is apparently taking its time to capture Bhamo because it lacks the weapons and ammunition of the three northern alliances. Currently, the only cities in the country where city-taking is taking place are Bhamo in Kachin State and Falam in Chin State.
