This is the worst power outage in history. Although the power is supposed to be provided for 8 hours a day, four hours are when people are sleeping and not using electricity. That means that we only have four hours of electricity a day. We have never experienced such a situation in our lives. Even during the terrible power outages during the Than Shwe era, we had 12 hours of electricity a day. The Burmese people have been suffering from a system of alternating power supply for generations, but now the situation of four hours a day is not at all convenient. The people have only experienced 24-hour power supply for about five years under the Aung San Suu Kyi government.

The military council, as usual, blames the revolutionary forces for this power outage. They blame the revolutionary forces for blowing up and destroying the power lines. If we continue to say this, now that the year 2025 has come, the military council has declared the entire northern Shan State controlled by the revolutionary forces, Almost all of Rakhine and Chin states, as well as large areas of Sagaing and Kachin states, have been cut off from electricity. The combined area of these regions is at least one-third of the total area of Myanmar. Where has the electricity from the power grid system reached?

The military regime has never taken responsibility for any problem that they have not solved, and has always blamed others. Now they have formed a commission to fix the electricity. But the commission they have formed consists only of generals and no experts. We cannot expect anything from the military council for the power outages. The hot summer is coming soon. If this is the case, I don’t think we will see electricity again when the summer comes.
