The military situation in western Myanmar has become interesting. If the AA army captures Gwa in Rakhine State, it can be said that the route to carry out military operations across the Rakhine Yoma has been opened. It can enter Magway Region through the Ann Valley Road, and it can enter the western part of Bago Region through the Taung Goat Valley Road. In addition, it can enter Ayeyarwady Region through Gwa. In Chin State, after capturing Mindat, the revolutionary groups have said that they will carry out more military operations in the northern part of Magway Region, which borders the territory. Since these areas are still under the control of the military council, they have not deployed many military forces. Therefore, the military is currently not enough.
What is even more interesting is that there are many large-scale military weapons factories in the western part of Bago Region and Magway Region. Now, the revolutionary forces can threaten these factories. If the AA were to launch an offensive targeting those factories, I don’t think the military council would be able to resist. So it will be interesting to see if the AA’s next target after taking over Rakhine State is the military council’s cotton factories or whether it will become the Ayeyarwady Region.
