Money scams are happening at Yangon Airport, claiming that VIP service will be available to allow people to go abroad without any medical screening or obstacles.
Since August, the Anti-Terrorism Council has taken measures to prevent people from visiting Yangon Airport with passports to travel to foreign countries to work. In the beginning, the VIP service for going abroad cost only around 20 lakh kyat, but now the price has increased to 50 lakh kyat. Then there are many lies. Especially young people who are going to Singapore, Dubai, and Malaysia are being cheated. Lying also takes money from agents saying they will make 100 percent pass. They ask for 5 to 10 lakhs per person. When I arrived at the airport, I had to turn around without being allowed to leave. The person who will go abroad has to pay the money first. Actually, I had to turn around from the airport. I can’t get the money back. I went to the relevant local police station and opened a case, but I could not open it.
Those who will go to Middle Eastern countries, Dubai, and Young people who are going to countries like the UAE are turned away from the airport without anyone being allowed to board the plane. MAI’s Dubai flight is empty.
That VIP service is not available to everyone, only those close to the military are getting it. Yangon International Airport is a great place for police dogs, military dogs, and dogs to ask for money.
