The issue of the dollar and fuel, which has been in crisis for the past few days, has been resolved to a certain extent. The Central Bank, under the Military Council, sold about one hundred million dollars to fuel companies. Therefore, the dollar price dropped from 7,200 kyats to 6,000 kyats. But commodity prices that went up along with the dollar won’t come down again. For two weeks in a row, the price of the dollar has been on the rise, so the price of bread from the street shop has also gone up.
The fuel situation has been resolved these days. But it will be for a while. If the speed of the $100 million issued and sold by the central bank runs out, fuel shortages will return. As long as these problems are treated with short-term remedies, they will never be solved.
