Due to the domestic economic crisis and the conscription law, many young people are forced to go abroad and work odd jobs. At Yangon Airport, we see young people leaving abroad every day. Now the military council will not release them. Young people who are going to work abroad are already strictly checked at Yangon Airport. We are mainly checking those who will leave with visiting passports. The Military Council usually divides passports into visiting passports and employment passports. If you work abroad with a visiting passport, you can avoid the tax collected by the military council.

They are unfairly exploiting the wages from those who are working with employment passports. The military council is taxed ten percent of the wages. In addition, twenty-five percent of the income is deducted from the military council fixed price of 2100 dollars. When the outside price is around 5,000 MMK taking it at 2,100 is very painful for migrant workers. If they don’t hand it over to the military council, they have threatened to take action up to the cancellation of their passports. The military council, which needs dollars, is extorting that way from foreign workers. Now PV operators who can avoid tax have been targeted.
