China is using various methods to put pressure on the Northern Allies, which is conducting Operation 1027 Part 2. Since July 3rd, when the MNDAA group started to attack Lashio, the electric power was cut off in the city of Lauk Kai. In addition, the Chinese side closed the border trade points controlled by the MNDAA. Now they are asking for frequent ceasefires again.
China is putting pressure on both the revolutionary groups and the military council to get the direction it wants. They even urged military leader Min Aung Hlaing to give up power. At the end of this month, the term is extended for another six months and the military council does not seem to want to allow it to continue in power. Therefore, it is possible that until the end of this month, the Northern Alliance has been forced to cease fire. It will be interesting to see what Min Aung Hlaing will do next August 1 due to China’s pressure and military pressure from North Shan.
