While the revolutionary groups in North Shan held a brief ceasefire, Mandalay Division and the MDYPDF troops captured the town of Sankoo. Saakku is a town more than 50 miles north of Mandalay. The city was the second city to be captured by the revolutionary forces in the 1027 Shan Mann campaign, and it became the first city in Mandalay region to be cleared of military council troops. Mandalay is a large region located in the center of the country, and it shows that the revolutionary groups have penetrated to the center of the country. In addition, the city was attacked and captured by the MDYPDF under the NUG. As for the military council, the city had to be abandoned, so it was constantly bombarded and destroyed by air.

Although we have obtained the city of Sankoo, we need to continue to dominate the surrounding areas so that we don’t give it back like Kolin City. Since it is close to Mandalay, the military council will try to recover it. Currently, the revolutionary forces are continuing to gain control of Mokok town to the east of Sankoo town and Matara town to the south. If they can continue to occupy those cities, they will be able to threaten Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city, where the Military Council’s Central Military Headquarters is located.
