Due to the rise in the water level of the Irrawaddy River, thousands of villagers have been evacuated from the area where the river enters the town of Myitkyina in Kachin State. As the water entered the houses in most of the neighborhoods along the banks of the Irrawaddy River, the residents started fleeing from the night. Yesterday morning, almost all of Myitkyina’s neighborhoods started to experience flooding due to the inundation of river water. All markets are closed.
