Myawati city’s situation is complicated. Before talking about the current situation in Myawati, we must first talk about the situation in Karen State. Like Shan State, there are many armed organizations in Karen State. The armed groups in Shan State are different depending on their ethnicity, but in Karen State, there are at least 3 armed groups divided into the same Karen ethnic group. KNU/DKBA/BGF etc. KNU is the parent organization, and the rest of the groups were separated due to the division of blood by the military during the previous military regime. Currently, only one group of the KNU is fighting back against the army, while the rest of the groups have friendly relations with the military council.

The BGF, which now controls Myawati, was a group under the Military Council and has not long since split off from the Military Council. But the military council has been not attacked again. Now, food is being supplied to the rebels under the Thai border bridge. The rebels were waiting for reinforcements to come up from the side of Cockrate. Since the KNU upholds the principle of non-aggression among the Karen people, there has not been any problem with the BGF. But if there is no military council, it is interesting to see how the Karen will rule Myawati, a town with good income and trade hub on the Thai border.
