In the past few days, the Rakhine Army (AA) has raided Mrauk Oo City Police Station, after attacking the Tudaw Ma Taung Camp and the Surrey Bwe Police Station, the military council’s battalions based in Mrauk Oo town opened fire on civilian areas with heavy weapons, injuring 13 civilians, including two men. A woman died. It is known that during the fighting in Mrauk Oo town, the AA captured the Thutaw ma Taung camp, and the policemen from the Surrey Bwe police station surrendered. As their bases were destroyed, the military council troops continued to attack not only the civilian areas not related to the battle, but also the ancient cultural area in Mrauk Oo City with heavy weapons. Mrauk Oo City is the ancient cultural capital of the Rakhine people and is an area that is trying to enter UNESCO. Due to the military council’s heavy weapons fire, the ancient museum, stupas and some houses in Mrauk Oo City were hit and damaged. The people of Rakhine believe that the destruction of the ancient pagodas in North U is aimed at the hearts of the Rakhine people. As they did this, the AA continued to attack.
