Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and People’s Defense Forces (PDF) joint forces attacked and captured 2 military council camps in Shweku Township of Kachin State yesterday morning. They attacked and occupied the Military Council’s Khmera (602) and Khlara (56) camp on the Shweku-Bangmao road. The rebels retreated to the city of Shweku. The entire camp has been burned.
The KIA and the military council troops also fought fiercely along the Myitkyina-Bangmao road, and the military was tense. The military council army in that area was blocked by the KIA. Food is being airdropped. The KIA intercepted the military council’s support convoy from the ground, and the entire military council convoy was damaged.
