Sagaing is the city where the last battles took place in Sagaing. It is only separated from Mandalay, Myanmar's second largest city, by the Irrawaddy River, so the military council is trying desperately to prevent revolutionary groups from gaining control of Sagaing.

The villages west of Sagaing are being patrolled, and the military council is blocking the entrance to Sagaing and exiting from Mandalay. Starting on September 15th, they have been patrolling villages in the west of Sagaing City, including Thalon Phyu Village.
