Famous private hospitals in Mandalay such as City Hospital, Palace Hospital and Kamko Hospital were forced to temporarily close for four months after the military exercise of power, and now the hospital’s business license has been revoked. In late 2022, many well-known private hospitals and clinics in Mandalay were raided and extorted by the military group for allegedly employing anti-coup CDM doctors and health workers.
The revocation of the licenses of such well-known private hospitals by the military group may be a consequence of the oppression of CDMs, and it is possible that the new hospitals affiliated with the military group in Mandalay work together with the military group to get patients from their hospitals. If the three hospitals in the Palace Hospital and the Kamko Hospital are combined, there will be at least 1,000 employees, and while the hospitals are temporarily closed, some of the employees will be entitled to half of their salaries, but because of the revocation of the license, all the employees will be unemployed.
At the end of 2022, the military group brutally oppressed the CDM health workers in Mandalay, and the CDM health workers in Mandalay were not allowed to go to the hospital for treatment even if they were sick themselves.
Due to the illegal and violent oppression of the regime, it became difficult for CDM health workers to continue living in the city. At the end of 2022, hundreds of CDM health workers in Mandalay changed to Non-CDM and reentered under the regime, and almost all CDM specialists and professor-level doctors had to return to Non-CDM.
