A total of 18 local people, including 7 children, were arrested and burned to death by the rebels in Nyaung Pintha Village, Than Tapin Township. Among then, the children included who was a six-year-old boy.
Fighting between the PDF and the rebels took place near that village. They were repeatedly attacked with mines and about 30 rebels were killed. After those battles, the rebels killed innocent civilians and villagers as revenge.
There have been military raids in Bago since before, but there have been no mass killings like this. Now, it seems that the rebels will continue to commit war crimes openly regardless of location or region.
