Starting from the last week of January, the price of rice in the market has increased, and this month, the price of a rice bag has increased from 10,000 to 20,000 kyats. It is known that the increase in the price is due to speculators hoarding rice. Traders buy and store the famous Shwebo Pawsan rice from the Shwebo side of Sagaing. Because of the fighting in that area, the farmers sell all the rice without keeping it in their hands, so it is easy for the traders to play the market. Because of these speculators in the market, the more the price of rice rises, the more anxiously and excessively they buy, and the prices rise again.
The rise in the price of rice, which is Myanmar’s staple food, can cause great difficulties for the entire population, especially for the grassroots, whose income has not increased during this period. In fact, after the coup, there was hardly any product that didn’t go up in price.
